Discussing Genre

For our film we discussed a variety of genre ideas and a range of genres which would be a possibility for our film. We narrowed down the choice to psychological thriller, horror and comedy.
To help us reach a desicion we brainstormed ideas about each and listed strengths and weaknesses

By doing this, we could see the strengths and weaknesses of different genres and what would be included in each to help us make a decision on what genre we were going to do.
From this, we concluded with a psychological thriller for our opening. This is because we could add a sense of mystery and be creative with our ideas with a wider target audience.
With thought to setting, casting, props and mise-en-scene, this will all be accessible to us and as a psychological thriller does not necessarily have to make sense in the opening allows us to come up with creative and imaginative ideas and also gives us a challenge to work to our full potential.
Psychological thriller is a specific sub-genre.
